Your city is becoming a game map.

Most driving apps are built to get you somewhere as quickly as possible. Spota is built for the opposite reason: to give you a reason to take the long way.

With this update, Spota stops being a map you look at and becomes a map you play. Your city now has things to find, places to capture, routes to complete, and people to drive with. Here's what that means and how it fits together.

Playlists: curated drives with a purpose

A playlist is a set of real places strung together around a theme: the best canyon roads within an hour of downtown, the spots where the local JDM crowd meets up, a sunrise route that ends at a coffee stop with a view.

You can run any public playlist. Each stop is a real location, and progress is tracked as you actually drive there. There's no tapping through a list from your couch. Finish a playlist and you earn XP and move closer to its badge.

Playlists are the easiest way into Spota. If you've ever wanted to explore your area properly but didn't know where to start, pick one and go.

Collectibles, photo ops, and scenic spots

Scattered across the map are three kinds of discoveries:

• Collectibles: hidden drops you only get by physically driving to them. Some are easy to find, others are tucked away on roads most people never take.
• Photo Ops: the best places in the city to shoot your car, each with a location-based challenge. Capture the shot and it's logged against your car's profile.
• Scenic spots and routes: roads worth driving for their own sake, and places where the view is the point.

Every one of these rewards XP, and all of them are the kind of thing car people already go looking for. Spota just gives that instinct a scoreboard.

Territories: put your name on the map

Territories are real areas of your city that you claim by driving through them. Hold one and it earns you XP until someone else takes it back.

That's what makes the map feel alive. A territory you claimed on Saturday might belong to someone across town by Tuesday, which is a pretty good reason to go for another drive. Turbo members get territory defense, which adds an extra step and a short wait for anyone trying to take a zone from them.

Drive Mode and convoys

Drive Mode is Spota's live experience. Turn it on and your drive counts toward playlists and territories in real time, and nearby enthusiasts can spot your car on the road.

You stay in control of who sees you. Spottable Radar shows how visible you are, and Ghost Mode hides you completely. Visibility is something you choose to switch on, not something that happens because you granted location access.

Convoys take it further: start a drive session, invite your friends, and everyone sees each other on the map and can talk while driving. It keeps the group together on unfamiliar roads, and it turns a normal Sunday cruise into something closer to a shared event.

Your garage, your progress

All of this feeds back into your garage, where each car has its own profile with photos, specs, mods and build progress. Spots other people capture of your car can be sent to your profile for approval, so over time your garage becomes a record of where the car has been and who noticed it along the way.

XP and badges follow you, not a single car, so everything you do on the map counts toward your level and your place on the leaderboards.

Built for your city, not a generic one

A game map is only as good as what's on it. The places in Spota come from the car scene: the roads, meets and photo locations enthusiasts actually care about. That's also why the map keeps growing: as more drivers join in a city, there's more to find, more territory to fight over, and more people to convoy with.

Getting started

1. Download Spota and add your car to your garage.
2. Open the map and pick a playlist near you.
3. Turn on Drive Mode when you set off, and collect anything you pass along the way.
4. When you're ready, invite a friend and try your first convoy.

Spota is free to download, and the core game is free to play. Turbo adds a bigger garage, longer Drive Mode sessions, territory defense, club tools and an XP boost for players who want more.
