    No. EngineEar is an early-warning tool that helps you notice changes and decide when to get your car checked. It can't physically inspect your engine, so always have a qualified mechanic confirm any issue before repairs.

  • Do I need any extra hardware?

    No. EngineEar uses your phone's microphone. There's no OBD dongle or other equipment to buy.

  • Which scan should I choose?

    Start with a General Health Check. Idle scans are best for most issues; rev scans help with problems that appear under load; drive scans capture sounds that only happen on the move. The app suggests a scan type based on what you want to check.

  • How do I get the best recording?

    Record in a quiet place, keep a steady engine speed, hold the phone where the app shows, and avoid wind, music or other noise sources. Never record while driving yourself; ask a passenger to handle drive scans.

  • Can I track more than one car?

    Yes. Add vehicles to your garage and keep each one's scans, health status and history separate, from daily drivers to weekend builds.
