EngineEar1.Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using EngineEar, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and any community guidelines referenced herein.
EngineEar is operated by Spota Labs, Inc. ("SpotaLabs", "we", "us"). EngineEar lets you record your engine's sound with your phone and uses automated analysis to look for patterns linked to common engine issues, then gives you a health status and recommendations.
2.User Eligibility
- Must be at least 16 years old (or older where local law requires)
- Users under 18 must have parental consent
- EngineEar may suspend access if age, identity, or account behavior violates our policies
3.Use of the Platform
You may use EngineEar to:
- Record your engine with guided scans
- Get automated health reports and recommendations
- Keep a garage of your vehicles, each with its own scan history
- Share reports with your mechanic or friends
You may not use the platform to:
- Harass, stalk, or track others without consent
- Post hate speech, explicit content, or violent material
- Impersonate other users or misrepresent who you are
- Engage in unauthorized promotions or scams
- Reverse engineer or exploit the app technically
- Record other people's conversations
4.Account Security
- You're responsible for keeping your credentials confidential
- You must notify us immediately at support@spotalabs.app of unauthorized activity
- We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts due to policy violations
5.User-Generated Content (UGC)
- You retain ownership of any photos, videos, recordings, documents, or other content you upload
- By uploading content, you grant SpotaLabs a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, display, and share it as needed to operate and improve EngineEar. We'll only feature your content in our marketing with your permission
- You may not upload content you don't have the rights to (e.g. stolen photos, other people's documents)
6.Engine Scans & Reports
Not a Mechanical Inspection:
- Reports are automated estimates based on sound. They can miss problems or flag problems that aren't there.
- Always have a qualified mechanic confirm an issue before repairs.
- Don't rely on EngineEar alone to decide whether a vehicle is safe to drive.
Recording Safely:
- Never handle the app while driving. Drive scans must be done by a passenger.
- Keep your hands, phone and clothing clear of belts, fans and other moving parts, and away from hot surfaces and the exhaust.
- Only run the engine outdoors or somewhere well ventilated, never in an enclosed garage.
7.Misuse Policy
Prohibited Activities:
- Uploading recordings that aren't of a vehicle engine, or that capture other people's conversations.
- Creating fake accounts or impersonating others.
- Using bots, scrapers, or unauthorized third-party apps.
Prohibited Content:
- Content that promotes illegal activities or dangerous driving.
- Harassment, bullying, or discriminatory content.
- Copyrighted material without proper authorization.
- Personal information of others without consent.
- Any content that sexualizes or endangers minors, which we report to the authorities.
8.Subscription & Billing
- EngineEar is free to download. EngineEar Turbo and the SpotaLabs Ecosystem plan are optional subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. You can manage or cancel them in your store account settings. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- No refunds are issued for unused subscription time unless required by law. Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple and Google under their policies.
9.Location Usage
- EngineEar does not use your device's location

11.Garage & Vehicle Information
Vehicle Profiles:
- You may only add and scan vehicles that you own or have permission to scan.
- Provide accurate vehicle information, so reports are as useful as possible.
12.Community Guidelines
Respectful Behavior:
- Treat all community members with respect and courtesy.
- Be honest in everything you post and every deal you make.
- Report inappropriate behavior or content to help maintain community standards.
13.Intellectual Property
EngineEar and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Spota Labs, Inc. and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
14.Limitation of Liability
EngineEar is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpotaLabs is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of our services or from dealings with other users, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or data loss. Users are responsible for their own safety and compliance with local laws. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited by law.
15.Termination
You can stop using EngineEar and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these terms, or for any activity deemed harmful to the community or platform.
16.Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Users will be notified of significant changes, and continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
