Spota1.Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Spota collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. It is designed to be clear, transparent, and respectful of user privacy — especially around location data and user-generated content.
2.Information We Collect
Account Info:
- Email address
- Username / handle
- Profile photo
- Car profile information (make, model, year, mods)
Location Data:
- Approximate or real-time location (only when "Go Live" is manually activated)
- Map region activity and pin drops
Usage Data:
- App actions (e.g. posts, likes, reels, spots, clubs, events)
- Device info (e.g. device model, OS version)
- IP address and timestamps (for security)
Media Uploads:
- Reels, photos, mod images, profile content
- Metadata (e.g. time, location, tag data)

4.Data Sharing
Spota does not sell your personal data.
We only share limited data with:
- Cloud storage/CDN providers (e.g. Cloudinary)
- Analytics tools (e.g. PostHog, Amplitude)
- Payment processors (e.g. Stripe, Apple Pay, GPay)
- Moderation services (if needed)
We never share your live location with third parties for advertising or profiling.
5.Location Permissions
- Location data is only collected when you go live using Go Live
- Only members of the Spota community who come near the set spottable radius will be able to see your car on the map
- You control whether or not your car appears on the map
- We never track users in the background without explicit permission
6.Data Retention
- Basic account and garage data is stored until your account is deleted
- Spot submissions and media are stored indefinitely (unless deleted by owner or submitter)
- Request for data deletion can be made via email: privacy@downloadspota.app
7.Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access or export your data
- Request corrections or deletion
- Withdraw consent for certain types of data use
- File a complaint with a regulatory authority
9.Security Practices
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored securely
- Authentication is handled via Supabase with role-based access
- Moderation tools are in place to protect users from abuse
